Hail Mary
If a person looks straight up they are looking in an area in which they are trying to decide something. We call it a "Hail Mary" because it resembles many of the paintings of Mary looking up. We don't know what the content is, but we do know when somone is looking this way they are trying to choose something.
Try it: Ask yourself this question: So, what is your true purpose in life? Very often if we ask or are asked this type of question our eyes end up going straight up. Where do your eyes go?
If you are a dominantly visual person, you might try and place the objects (the visual information surrounding what you are trying to remember) you want to remember in this space. Then when you need the information look up in that spot to get all of it.
